So, the Stelvio Q4 disappeared soon after they moved it. They now have:
- 2020 Edge ST
- 2020 STI
- 2019 RS3
- 2020 Mustang GT350 (non-R)
Definitely conspicuous compared to the Eurovans, turn-of-the-century Suburbans, and Kia Sportages that grace the street parking here. I need to put the jalopy at the end of the driveway just to bring the neighborhood back down a notch and restore balance.

I do own the “eeeeee” house on the block, so yes
![]() 10/20/2020 at 20:44 |

Or rather the bank owns it. Or perhaps it owns me.

Eurovans? Plural?
I’ve seen like two, ever. One was a coworker at a concert venue. He lived in it. The other was a camper conversion I saw street parked for sale
this last weekend. 178k miles, VR6, auto. The price? 14k.

Thanks, I’m just an apartment dweller so I’m just practicing for now. I think I just need to figure out what an appropriate peace offering to an HOA president is and I’ll be ready to be a homeowner!
![]() 10/20/2020 at 20:49 |

This camper sits 363 days a year parked and one guy a few blocks north owns two.

I kinda love eurovans. I’ve thought about buying one before. But the timing has never been right. I found my brother a sweet red, manual one, but he’s so and VW that he wouldn’t even consider it. For reference the Scion xB is one of his favorite cars so I thought the euro van would be right up his ally

I don't live in an HOA, just the normal keeping up with the Joneses subtlety.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 20:50 |

They bought a house and multiple new cars in the same time frame? Either they came into some money or they’re living the YOLO dream.

Park the Lexus at the end of the driveway so they know they’re dealing with a fellow luxury car owner.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 20:51 |

They also paid $60,000 over asking price for the house.

I can get some closer creeper photos for you sometime if you would like. It appears to be flawless.

If you don’t have $3000 in car and/or lease payments, what are you even living for?
I could be completely wrong but I'd bet you have more liquid assets than your neighbor.

They were very well built. I’ve never seen one that wasn’t in great shape.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 20:56 |

Definitely — I have sparkling water in the fridge!
![]() 10/20/2020 at 20:58 |

Perfect size, too.
The later ones though... My parents own a Rialta, probably one of the nicer ones you’ll find, and it’s still a bit of a basket case.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:01 |

Wow. All I have is fridge water filtered through a Bezos Basics filter.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:02 |

Whoa — your fridge makes water?!?
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:02 |

The one I saw was a 2000 or a 2002. I’d disagree. I forgot how monstrous they are.
Rialtas... wow. Only one I’ve ever seen was at a Copart, total basket case.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:06 |

I think my neighbor’s Eurovan is a 1990-94(?) though, not an ‘00-’02. My dad’s Rialta is an ‘01 and it’s small, if you park next to say a contemporary American RV, but it’s huge.

Yah, I'm kind of a big deal. I once owned a car worth almost five figures.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:08 |

But why the Edge ST?
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:09 |

Costco trips, perhaps? Ain’t making those in two weeny sedans or the GT350.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:10 |

I’m pretty sure the sum total value of my three vehicles is like... 7-to- 15 running Paseo convertibles?
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:11 |

But at least get a GLC43 or something.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:12 |

The Edge ST is starts at $43k apparently, GLC43 starts at $60k.
Good Lord, the RS3 starts at $56k...

I just found one for sale this side of Columbus, and it was so surprising I had to check the ad. It’s a 2000 for $7900. I have no idea why I find them appealing.

So... he’s got four cars now?
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:18 |

Why not?
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:28 |

I’m so thankful there’s only one person on my block trying that shit.

Possible dealership employee? People have thought I owned work cars before, an d I’ve had streaks of a few weeks at a time driving nothing but fancy stuff for work purposes.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:29 |

Right there with you. I wouldn’t mind a new car but I also have a drawer with all the titles and they all work just fine.

NIMBYS OUT OUT OUT
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:39 |

Heh, I went to Costco this morning. A mustang isn’t that much smaller than my 2-series......
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:42 |

They’re street parking all those cars? That’s....strange.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:44 |

Hmm is it a married couple or a bunch of dudes? Lot of overlap w the Sti and RS3. Bet the rs is a lease.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:45 |
|
Either that or they have a dog.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 21:47 |
|
56 for the rs sounds like a slightly better deal than the low 50s that most S3s fall into

Appropriate peace offerings for HOA presidents include:
1. A 10 pound bag of fertilizer.
2. A gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, low-fat vegan kale cake. An d you must take the first bite to prove it’s not poisonous.
3. A decent quality telescope for checking grass length.
4. Your soul.
5. Your firstborn child.
6. Your firstborn child’s soul.

I’d think the RS3 would make the STi seem bor ing.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 22:32 |

Have you met them? Are they the WFH coronavirus refugees I’ve been seeing? Sold something small in the city to buy something bigger and cheap (to them) a little further out, but still making that big city money? It’s weird, but definitely happening and seems to be mostly people with very large incomes and money to burn.

I have 3 cars for the family. My ‘06 Focus with 209k, my wife’s ‘02 Explorer with 180k and my sons ‘95 Nissan 200SX with 115k miles. Some total value is probably less than $5,000. I have the classiest fleet on the street.

Need a regular car to collect the rents.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 23:11 |

Hey now, the 350 (or ju st the S550 Mustang in general) has a surprisingly-large trunk capacity for a coupe! Fold down the rear seat backs and throw a couple items on the front passenger seat and floor and you can certainly bring home a haul from the bulk stores.
![]() 10/20/2020 at 23:49 |

A bit redundant. At least the GT350 offers a unique experience

I drove an rs3 and it was the perfect sports car for me. Small, nimble very torquey. I dont understand why would he have an STI.
